SJ Anderson (they/them) is a second-generation Malay American graphic designer and illustrator. Drawing inspiration from their own life, SJ’s work is a blend of identity exploration, punk values, and surreal escapism. They are known for their design work for Austin indie theatre companies like Bottle Alley Theatre and Dirty Gold Theatre, as well as their work for Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas.
SJ’s work has been published in the Austin Chronicle and their posters can be found plastered around Austin. Their work at Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas has been distributed nationwide and been featured in prominent places like Fenway Park in Boston and The View.

I offer poster art for events or tours, book art, logos or full brand identities, illustration commissions, marketing materials (like social media graphics), merch designs, and much more. In getting started with any project, I would like to know your general ideas, what your budget looks like, how quickly you need final assets by, and any other miscellaneous details you feel are important. We can take the next steps together!
What makes you different?

I tend to have a more analog approach to my design, and like to create art that pushes past design norms or whatever is trending. I have over a decade of design experience and have worked for a diverse clientele with vastly different needs. My experience makes me extremely adaptable. I'm intentional in making sure every creation has a personal touch as well.
